Effective Leadership is Not About Power: The Art of Influence
• Why do some leaders cause more employees to do the job the right way more often?
• Why do some leaders effectively cultivate followers?
• How do highly effective leaders get their message across with less time & effort?
After teaching leadership and observing thousands of leaders, especially those leaders that are not the #1 person in charge, I believe that a few of those leaders have waaay more influence and cause others around them to do a better job. After conducting interviews to write my book ("Looking Out for #2"), I identified the specific behaviors that I observed in those leaders and developed a workshop.
This workshop is a collection of strategies & techniques used by the most effective leaders in business, education, and non-profits to get followers to choose the right path & do the right thing. The emphasis is on using new strategies for communication, leadership, leveraging time & efforts, more effective planning, & decision-making. Copies of all strategies & handouts will be delivered to participants. A Powerpoint from that training session can be downloaded from this website here.
Elements of this training include:
1) Review applied research re: art of influence & communication
2) Consider priorities & methods to improve communication
3) Explore a differentiated leadership model
4) Consider personal application of new leadership model
5) Review best practices re: effective meetings & decision-making
6) Review best practices: More effective delegation & accountability
